The Bodo–Garo languages are a small family of Sino-Tibetan languages spoken in eastern India. The name ''Bodo'' is not related with the Tibetan ethnonym ''bod'', which is the basis of the names ''Bodic'' and ''Bodish.'' Bodo–Garo consists of two well defined branches: ;Bodo: Bodo, Dimasa, Tiwa (Lalung), Tripuri (Kokborok, Reang, Usoi), Kachari, Hojai, Moran (extinct) :Formerly Hajong ;Garo: Garo and Megam Bodo is an official language of the Indian state of Assam. Kokborok, or Tripuri, is one of the principal languages of the state of Tripura.
